I don't use the word "ultimate" frequently, so when I do, you know it's something special! For those of us that grew up loving traditional Magic Seven Layer Bars, we've taken these to a new level! Several of my kiddos request these every holiday season, and I never liked the way the crust was so dry and crumbly - and let's face it, they are just plain messy to eat - graham cracker crumbs EVERYWHERE!
The creative solution to that was to bake up a tender, soft-baked brown sugar and graham cracker cookie crust! No more crumbly graham cracker and butter crust for us, And once you try this soft, thick and chewy bar, you'll be swooning too!
If you are one of the rare people on the planet that don't like coconut, these probably won't change your mind - but if you love an old-fashioned seven layer bar, these are going to rock your world!
A thick and tender crust that is really just a wonderful brown sugar & graham cracker soft cookie, topped with butterscotch, chocolate and soft coconut, pecans and topped with sweetened condensed milk that caramelizes down through everything as it bakes. The hard part is waiting for it to cool down so that you can dive in!
So fast and easy to make, and aren't they simply gorgeous? One bite and you'll be amazed too! And as fabulous as these are for a holiday cookie tray, they make a pretty fantastic dessert all on their own. You can bake these up ahead of time and freeze them - but you'll need a great hiding place in your freezer! We have made these more times than I can count throughout the year, and they are always a huge hit.
Happy holiday baking - and hope you get a chance to try this ultimate, magical treat!
