Oh yes, I did! Decadent dark chocolate, loaded with dark chocolate chips, slathered with thick and luscious salted caramel and topped with small salty pretzels. PERFECTION! Earlier this week I whipped up some fresh Salted Caramel Sauce, and have been trying to figure out the perfect way to share it since then! Start with basic dark and chewy chocolate brownies - load 'em up with dark chocolate chips or chunks. These are good enough to eat all alone...unadorned and simple pure chocolate goodness! But why stop there? A rich and melt-in-your-mouth ganache? Fluffy and airy marshmallow and drizzle with something good.....or just skip right to that beautiful jar of Salted Caramel Sauce waiting in the fridge! Warm up the Salted Caramel Sauce. Next step, pour a nice thick layer of dark amber caramel, and sprinkle with salted pretzels - the perfect balance of sweet and salty.
Throw in a birthday, and a reason to celebrate! ENJOY! This one is on me!

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL? We sure do love football in the Fall - from the tailgating, backyard barbeques, or Sunday football parties, it is just a great time of the year! This is so simple and easy to make, and it will make the crowd cheer when you bring it out on game day! I'm always looking for new recipes and ways to serve old favorites! Everyone loves my Warm Bacon & Cheese Dip, but for a nice change of pace, I like to switch it up slightly and serve a cold Bacon & Cheese Dip.
Quick to make - simply blend the ingredients together, form into a football shape, and chill for a few hours or overnight - very easy to make ahead of time! Before serving, press mini-pepperoni slices to form the "pigskin" - don't you love that? Strips of your favorite white cheese (Swiss, Jack, provolone or white cheddar) create the laces. This is perfect served with pretzels, garlic baguette slices, crackers or your favorite fresh vegies - something for everyone! Ready, set.....hike! There is something so sad about Labor Day weekend rolling around - even though the kids are already back in school, when I was growing up in Minnesota school always started the Tuesday after Labor Day. I remember the traffic being so backed up as everyone headed back to the Twin Cities after the last long weekend of summer at the northern lake cabins. Melancholy moments! Teriyaki Chicken grilled with Fresh Pineapple, Sweet Onions and Peppers is one of our grilling favorites, and together with a nice chilled bottle of wine, take some of the sting out of the end of summer. Our grill basket has gotten a good workout this summer - cooking up delicious variations of potatoes, onions, peppers, and even an occasional fruit. This fresh pineapple, sweet onion and pepper combination is perfect, and drizzled with some Teriyaki Sauce after grilling, both beautiful and so flavorful!
If you'd prefer, you can slice your pineapple into one inch slices, and grill directly on the grill grate - flipping after two or three minutes - you'll see the golden grill marks. So sweet, and the pineapple juice caramelizes as it cooks - so good! |
