Don't you just love a relaxing morning without any deadlines? One of my favorite things to do on summer mornings is to share breakfast in the sunroom with my family - just enjoying the quiet, the birds chirping, and having a relaxing start to the day.
I also have a wee bit of rhubarb available from the garden, so it's a perfect time to whip up a quick Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb Cake! This is so tender, buttery and just the perfect touch of tart sweetness with the fresh juicy strawberries and tender rhubarb.

This is one of my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes! These soft, thick and chewy cookies are totally loaded with three kinds of chocolate - white chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and Snow-Caps make them even more special! The cornstarch helps to keep the cookies soft and tender. Easy to make, and you can change up the types of chocolate you add to create your favorite chocolate chip cookie. If you're partial to nuts, you can also add some of those as well. Gotta love a recipe that is this flexible!
Do you have a favorite recipe that you can always pull out, and whip up and serve for a special occasion?
This is one of those easy, old fashioned favorites. Perfect for a special dinner party, or when someone special is coming for dinner. We have been so lucky to have a bumper-crop of raspberries and rhubarb this year! We have a variety of different raspberry bushes along one entire side of the house, and the kids love going out to gather berries - and eat handfuls as well! Rhubarb-Raspberry Crisp, Rhubarb-Raspberry Pie, Raspberry Jam...the list goes on and on of our favorites, but one of the very best is these delicious Raspberry Crumb Bars! There is nothing quite like an old-fashioned fresh raspberry bar - all crumbly with butter, brown sugar and oatmeal. Other recipes typically use only a jam filling, but I like to add fresh raspberries to the mix. I cook the berries and jam on the stove until the berries are broken up slightly, and then cool down to room temperature before adding to these tender bars. You can top these with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, but I prefer serving and eating them all by themselves...garnished with some fresh berries on the side.
These is one of my favorite old-fashioned bars to make - and a favorite around here to eat. Hope that you love these as much as we do! |
