If there was ever a coleslaw that just screamed "Autumn" and "Football Parties", this Smoky Barbecue Apple Coleslaw is the one! Combine fresh apples with fresh coleslaw, stir in some craisins and almonds for flavor and crunch, and toss with a flavorful Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce and Dijon mustard creamy sauce, and you've got coleslaw just screaming with flavor! Perfect to serve with smoked brisket, barbecued chicken and burgers, or piled on top of Apple Cider Pulled Pork Sandwiches, this is the salad you'll be craving!
INGREDIENTS:
1 Granny Smith Apple (quartered, cored & sliced into small matchstick pieces) 14 oz. bag coleslaw mix 1/3 cup Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce 1/3 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard ¼ cup craisins 2 tablespoons slivered almonds HOW I MAKE THIS: 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce, mayonnaise or Miracle Whip and Dijon mustard. 2. Stir in the shredded apples, coleslaw mix, craisins and almonds. 3. Cover and refrigerate for 10 minutes before serving. 4. Best to serve this within an hour after you blend the ingredients so that it doesn’t “sauce-up” too much.
