I just love the weeks before Christmas...it's my happy time and place! The kids are all at home celebrating no school, the shopping is done and the house is all decorated. But my favorite part is the memories that come with baking and cooking our holiday favorites! So many memories of people and years past, and so many new memories to be made. Good times! This year our littlest was so excited to help with the holiday baking, and you can only imagine how big his eyes got when I told him to run and get his Little Tikes hammer so that we could start! He donned his "Christmas Cookie Helper" apron and chef hat lickety split, and the fun began! Now, this dip takes about two minutes to make, but I think we were all laughing for hours! Lucas's job was to smash the peppermint candy canes into tiny pieces, and he absolutely excelled at the task! This is a relatively healthy and low-fat treat - cream cheese and Greek vanilla yogurt are the base. Perfectly good for finger-dipping! But also pretty darn good to dip shortbread cookies or crispy butter cookies into. And if you need to make and bring something last minute to a party, this one always gets lots of ooooohs and ahhhhhhhs! For something different for the holidays, you can also use this Candy Cane Dip as a topping on angel food cake or pound cake. Fast, easy, and so delicious - perfect for the holiday season! Hope that you enjoy this long-time family favorite as much as we do! INGREDIENTS:
1 (8 oz.) pkg cream cheese (room temperature) 1 cup (8 oz.) vanilla Greek yogurt (I use Noosa Vanilla Yoghurt) Red Gel food coloring ½ cup crushed peppermint candy canes (reserve several tablespoons for garnish) SERVE WITH: Pepperidge Farms Holiday Cookie Selection, Crisp Sugar or Butter Cookies; Angel Food Cake, Chocolate Graham Crackers, Pound Cake HOW I MAKE THIS:
YIELD: Makes about 2-1/4 cups. Originally posted December 2016; revised and reposted December 2019.
