 Awesome Sauce (Apricot Barbecue Sauce) I'm going to let you in on a little secret...and it's awesome! To be specific, it's AWESOME SAUCE. Once upon a time I created the most wonderful homemade barbecue sauce, and everyone told me that it tasted exactly like Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue Sauce. So I tinkered and tried a few other things, because I really wanted to make this one my own. The secret ingredient? Apricot Preserves. And so I started calling it Apricot Barbecue Sauce. But everyone that tried it just called it AWESOME, so over the years, it has become known as "Awesome Sauce".
I use this wonderful sweet and smoky barbecue sauce throughout the year, but during the summer months, I make it by the gallon! We use it on SO MANY THINGS that it is simply crazy! It's saucy, it's glazy, it's the most wonderful sauce you have ever had!

HOW I MAKE THIS:
1. Whisk together all ingredients in a medium pot over medium heat. 2. Bring to a light boil, then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring or whisking occasionally. 3. This sauce will thicken slightly as it cools. 4. Serve immediately or cover and store in the refrigerator. YIELD: 3 cups RECIPE NOTES: If you leave the apricot preserves out of this recipe, you’ll have yourself a batch of the best ever homemade barbecue sauce – just like Sweet Baby Ray’s Barbecue Sauce (copycat recipe)!
