Autumn Snack Mix

This easy Autumn Snack Mix makes the perfect treat!  It’s that time of the year when the leaves have changed their colors and everyone is making plans to get together.  My little ones love to help pick out and mix their favorite treats – we love the salty and sweet taste of this snack mix for football parties, movie nights, Thanksgiving get-togethers, and all season long!  It’s irresistible and a sweet tradition we share during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

HAVE FUN CREATING YOUR OWN AUTUMN SNACK MIX!

• Use seasonal items!  Add in Fall favorites like chocolate candies or fall themed candies.  If you love candy corn and candy pumpkins, this is for you!
• Let’s share this with everyone!  For a gluten free option, use gluten free cereals and candy. For nut allergies, choose nut-free ingredients. 
• Make extras and share in glass mason jars with an autumn ribbon tied around the top of the jar and a little note on the side!

TIPS FOR MAKING AUTUMN SNACK MIX WITH KIDS:

• Use age appropriate ingredients.  Snack items for older kids (like popcorn) don’t work as well for toddlers.  Yogurt bites or fruit treats are easier for toddlers and preschoolers to chew.
• Add your favorite cereals. 
• Have your little ones choose some of the ingredients – nothing is more fun for a kid than to get to pick out their favorites and help mix everything together.
• For take-along fun, serve in individual ziplock sandwich bags.

INGREDIENTS:
Cheese Popcorn
Caramel Popcorn
Mellowcreme Pumpkins
Mini Candy Corn
Chocolate Covered Caramels
Chocolate Covered Pretzels
M&M Milk Chocolate Candies
Chex Mix Savory Cheddar Snack Mix
Roasted Peanuts & Cashews
 
Other Great Additions:
Dried Fruits (cranberries, blueberries or raisins)
Caramel Rolos (unwrapped)
Yogurt Dipped Pretzels
Bugles Corn Chips (they look just like little cornucopias!)
Autumn Gummi Bears or Fruit Snacks
Yogurt Raisins
Honey Nut Cheerios
 
HOW WE MAKE THIS:

1. In a large bowl, combine your favorite ingredients, keeping in mind any food allergies and the ages of kiddos who will be eating this.  You can mix and match your favorite ingredients, using your favorite amounts of each!
2. Stir gently.
3. Serve to smiles and cheers!

 
YIELD:   Enough for 2 or more – or a party!
