Ahhhhhhh.....finally the best season of the year is here! Warm autumn days and crisp evenings, trees changing color every day, bonfires, hayrides, and one of our family favorites - many trips to the local apple orchards. September has always been the month for baking and cooking with fresh, just-picked apples - sweet, tart, green, golden and ruby red - in so many varieties and in any shape and size! I'm sharing some of our favorite family apples with you today. It's almost impossible to pick the best of the bunch, so take my lead and try them all! Starting with Salted Caramel Apple Pie Bars, with a buttery and flaky crust, layered with tender apple slices, a brown sugar streusel topping, and drizzled with homemade salted caramel...but what a way to start! What a way to kick off fall - with a tall stack of hot Caramel Apple Pancakes! Spiced cinnamon, ginger and apple pie spices, these tender applesauce pancakes are sprinkled with bite-sized pieces of tart granny smith and sweet honey crisp apples, drizzled with homemade Salted Caramel Sauce. Such a yummy way to start the day! Always on our menu for Thanksgiving and Christmas, Glazed Apples & Cranberries are perfect not only with Holiday Ham, but also great with pork tenderloin. If you love apple pie, you will LOVE all of the tart and sweet apple slices, with the sweet tang of cranberries, in a light and perfect glaze. These are also wonderful spooned on a bowl of hot oatmeal or topped with crunchy granola in the morning. Now that apple season has arrived, it's time to get baking! I used to think that there was no way to improve on homemade Classic Apple Pie, that was until I tweaked the recipe just a bit and created my Salted Caramel Apple Pie. I've made this with both Salted Caramel Sauce and Apple Cider Caramel Sauce...it is wonderful either way you make it! Which do you prefer? For a savory autumn dinner, there's nothing better than Roasted Apple & Maple Glazed Chicken. Tender roasted chicken, with the perfect blend of sweet and spicy! Tasty roasted apples with just a touch of maple syrup are the base of the tangiest, sweetest grilling sauce you have ever tasted! My Roasted Apple & Maple Grilling Sauce is also perfect on grilled cedar-plank salmon or pork. I also use this sauce in my Autumn Apple Slaw Salad. Caramel Apple & Pecan Monkey Bread started off as a crazy experiment that went terribly RIGHT! My kiddos are evenly divided about whether or not I should put pecans on Caramel Monkey Bread, but in the Fall when I have a nice basket of apples just calling out to me, what could be better than this for a special treat? What is it that makes apples and caramel so perfect for each other? This autumn-spiced caramel is rich and creamy, so incredibly silky, and perfect is so many of my fall baking recipes. It pairs perfectly with anything apple - whether you're saucing or dipping! For entertaining, there is nothing easier than slicing up fresh apples and serving with a crock of warm Apple Cider Caramel Sauce & Dip. Sugar and spice, and everything nice! Lazy autumn mornings are just made for Sugar & Spice Applesauce Pancakes with Maple Cinnamon Syrup. Take a stack of applesauce, whole-wheat and fresh buttermilk pancakes, and drizzle with warm and buttery Maple Cinnamon Syrup. This is the kind of breakfast that is going to stay with you for a few hours of raking leaves or tackling end-of-the-season chores. Get your plates - your pancakes are flipped and ready! No list of favorite apple recipes would be complete without Old Fashioned Apple Crisp. I've been making this for as long as I can remember! One of the first things that I bake each Fall, I make more batches of this than I can count. One of my kiddos even asks for this instead of birthday cake for her October celebration. It's so good warm from the oven, with a scoop of vanilla bean or butter pecan ice cream! For even more family-favorite apple recipes,
