 Pear Crisp with Cinnamon Honey Yogurt Man oh man, I was a little bit surprised how fast EVERYONE in the house came running while this was baking in the oven! Better than a Yankee Candle, and one of the best fall scents out there! Old Fashioned Pear Crisp is truly a treat! And even though you may think that crisps are all about apples, peaches and berries, if you have never tried a fresh Pear Crisp, you are in for a treat!
I start with ripe but still firm Bartlett or Bosc pears - you don't want anything mushy in this crisp! A very light hand with cinnamon and sugar, and these are ready to go! Pears are much sweeter naturally than apples and peaches, so it doesn't take much sugar to sweeten these up. A crumbly topping of buttery oats, brown sugar and almonds is perfect on top! As this bakes, the buttery crisp melts down over the pears, and is the perfect chewy texture.  Old Fashioned Pear Crisp If you're not going to be serving this warm right away, you might want to try drizzling just the smallest amount of maple syrup over the top! It does magical things and it can be our little secret... And while this is perfectly wonderful with a big scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, it is even more wonderful with honey flavored Greek yogurt or sweetened whipped cream - try stirring some fresh cinnamon into these before you drizzle on top.
