Isn't it funny how an old recipe can become such a family favorite? This is my Dad's recipe for Old Fashioned Meatloaf, and I'm finally getting around to moving the recipe over from my old website. Whenever cold autumn days start creeping up on us, or if you're in the need of some serious comfort food, this old fashioned, flavorful meatloaf is perfectly seasoned and has the most delicious tangy sweet tomato sauce glaze - perfect for a family dinner or for the next day in meatloaf sandwiches! I can't even remember the last time I didn't make a double batch of this for dinner - it is so good that it just disappears FAST! And if there isn't anything leftover for meatloaf sandwiches the next day, I'm dealing with grumblers.... The glaze is what really makes this my favorite - a perfect combination of ketchup, apricot preserves, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce take a regular 'ole meatloaf right over the top to WONDERFUL! I usually glaze the meatloaf halfway thru baking, and then serve the remaining sauce drizzled over the top of individual meatloaf slices. SO GOOD!
