This is an old-time family favorite recipe - I remember Grandma and Great-Grandma making these in the 1970's, and they were a staple at most picnics and backyard parties that I can remember.
The hard part now is finding cans of Hershey Syrup - the original recipe calls for a 16 ounce can of Hershey Syrup, which is practically impossible to find. If you ask people what 16 ounces mean, many will tell you that it is two cups - but the 16 ounce can actually is measured by weight, and holds only 1-1/2 cups of chocolate syrup. Very easy to make - very moist and extremely chocolately - almost like a flourless chocolate cake. I like to garnish with fresh raspberries or strawberries - but these are also absolutely wonderful served with a scoop of fresh vanilla ice cream, and then drizzled with a spoonful of the hot Fudge Icing - so good!
