Don't you just love lazy summer mornings? It's what we dream about all winter long, and when they finally get here, they just seem to fly by! I can't believe it is already the middle of July and already the back-to-school sales have begun. Time to slow it all down and enjoy every single minute that summer has to offer! And there's no better way than a long and lazy brunch with Crème Brulee French Toast! If you love crème brulee, you will absolutely adore this! Thick slices of French country bread, creamy egg custard, with a dark golden crust of bubbling caramelized brown sugar and butter! No need for maple syrup with this one...it stands alone as French toast perfection! I love that I can make this the night before when we have guests for brunch, but it's also simple enough to whip up in the morning for a last minute breakfast idea. No need for a torch to caramelize the brown sugar topping - your broiler will do all the work for you - just watch it carefully! Once it starts to turn that wonderful dark golden amber color and bubble up, it's time to pull it out from the oven! And if you're camping, you can also easily make this in a heavy cast iron skillet with perfect results. I don't know what it is about cooking and eating outside that just seems to make everything taste better! Served with grilled Canadian Bacon or hickory smoked bacon, some fresh summer fruit on the side, and you've got a glorious breakfast waiting for you! A tall cup of hot coffee and we're ready to go! Hope that you have a glorious day! Mama V
