Chocolate Sugar Cookies with Dark Chocolate Buttercream

​We love chewy sugar cookies, but my family LOVES these chewy Chocolate Sugar Cookies even more - and when frosted with Dark Chocolate Buttercream Frosting and sprinkled with holiday sprinkles?  These are MAGICAL!  These are always the first cookies to disappear from cookie trays, and I'll be baking many delicious batches this Christmas season.

I practice what I preach, and it really does make a difference in the quality of your cookies, cakes and other treats when you use the freshest and best ingredients that you can.  With the skyrocketing cost of vanilla beans and cocoa beans, you really need to be careful in how your spend your ingredient dollars. ​

​There isn't a bakery cookie out there that even comes close to how wonderfully fresh, chewy and chocolate-loaded these cookies are.  So simple to make, you'll have the cookie dough chilling in less than 15 minutes - start to finish.  No muss and no fuss - no rolling pin or cookie cutters required!  A quick chill in the fridge, roll the dough into balls, roll in granulated sugar and place them on baking sheets.  And the fun begins when my little ones help "press" the dough lightly with their little hands.  They love helping with baking and they love seeing their little hand prints on these cookies before they go in the oven. 

​Frosted with the best Dark Chocolate Buttercream Frosting - twirled and swirled to your hearts content, and then let the sprinkling begin!  Don't you just love holiday sprinkles on sugar cookies?
