AN APPLE A DAY...
During the month of September, we're going to do something new here at SNOWFLAKES & COFFEECAKES! I'll be sharing our favorite apple recipes throughout the month, to celebrate our favorite season of the year!
One of the most common questions I get is "What is the best kind of apple to use for this recipe?"
No matter where you live, there are always going to be unique apple varieties for your region. Being a Midwest girl, I'm sharing with permission the apple chart from our favorite Minnesota grocery store - Lunds & Byerlys. Now that we live in Ohio, we find our favorite varieties at our local apple orchards - Mapleside Farms is only a few miles from our home and is a great place to pick a peck of apples with your family! If you don't have an orchard nearby, you can also find beautiful organic apples at Costco - not only huge, but SO GOOD!
Visual photos help in identifying favorite apple varieties, but this handy little chart will help you decide which apple varieties are best for both eating and baking.
Visit each day in September for one of our favorite apple recipes, but if you can't wait...
