We love the combination of savory and sweet - smoked bacon, creamy gorgonzola cheese, sweet and tart dried cranberries and roasted almonds! And I hope you forgive me if I kinda make my cheese balls inside-out and naked!
Why? Because we all know how sad a cheese ball looks after it's about half gone - the first at the table usually pick off all of the delicious toasty almonds, or fresh herbs, or whatever you happen roll it in. And it just looks so sad!
And so I solved that problem! I just mix 'em right in with the cheese and bacon.
If you are one of the few people on the planet that don't like gorgonzola cheese, you can swap out white cheddar, feta or goat cheese. Whatever strikes your fancy, and your taste buds!
And also magical, if you feel the need to re-shape your cheese ball, without all the "stuff" on the outside, it's easy enough to do! But this disappears so fast that you probably don't need to worry about that!
