Is there anything more perfect than a simple, soft and chewy, warm Peanut Butter Cookie? It was always a special treat when we got home from school and a batch of these were cooling on the counter! And through the years, I've made more batches of these old-fashioned and classic peanut butter cookies than I can count.
These pretty little beauties are everything a peanut butter cookie should be - sweet and salty with a light crisp edge and tender chewy center.
I've found that there are two kinds of peanut butter cookie lovers - those that love Skippy peanut butter, and those that prefer Jif peanut butter. Along the same lines, some folks insist on traditional cookie fork marks, some like 'em plain and simple, and those that like just a puffy shimmery coating from a quick roll in a bowl of sugar before going into the oven.
For another twist, I sometimes use the end of a wooden tenderizer to make absolutely perfect scored marks on these chewy and tender peanut butter cookies. My little ones like "whacking" the cookies too - kinda like a baker's version of whack-a-mole!
These are perfect for an after-school treat, and pack well for camping, boating or tucked into a picnic basket.
With a tall glass of icy cold milk, these are the perfect little snack for your sweet tooth, and an absolute favorite around here!
